Lake Lanier
Weekends are the only time where the whole family goes out together, cos my chithi is also working. Since my second cousin is leaving next weekend, my chithi decided to take us to the Lake Lanier Waterpark yesterday. Its a water theme park built on the islands of Lake Lanier, on the Chattahoochee River. Its so scenic; I kept regretting my lack of a DSLR camera to capture it all. :(
The place had many water activities; boats, houseboats, yatchs, and many more. But the theme park was like the main attraction for the kids. When we were getting ready to go, the weather forecast predicted 6 hrs of rain with an hr of thunderstorm and they close all the rides during the rains. Luckily, it didn't rain at all when we were there and the clouds just helped cos it wasn't so hot and there was breeze all the time. :)
The rides were so awesome!!! Gave me the chills and the thrills!!! They didn't have too many rides, just like 5 or 6 of it, but we went on each one like 3 or 4 times, so it was really fun!! The slides were scary....i was floating in mid air for like a few secs on one of them after the steep drop!!!! :O Thank God i had my eyes closed!!It was freaky!! (Pics are up on FB)
I got nicely tanned yest...(need to dip myself in whitening lotion when i get back...:| )..but i couldn't beat my cousins' in that..:D they were like charcoal at the end of the day...
These Americans, their lifestyle is totally different from ours. They earn a bit of money and then they just spend it on themselves and enjoy life. I saw old people in the waterpark enjoying themselves so much even at that age and then there were the Indian ladies who were sitting outside waiting for the husbands and kids. -_- It was not like they didn't want to go in!! The husbands just wouldn't let them go into the pool in a swimsuit!!!
For the Americans, there is no policy of savings or anything like that. They don't spend on their houses or for their kids. Whatever they earn is for them to enjoy. It's good in one way cos they live life to the max in this way and there is a lot of independence for the kids. The kids learn to stand on their own feet and live life the way they want it!! No one else makes decisions for them which is what i like about it! I mean, even life decisions in India are made by so much of other influences that sometimes, what the person really wants is lost in the thinking process!
The discussion shall continue in future posts. Comments are gladly welcomed...:)

Nice post. And good to hear ur views. But just a thought...It's nice to live a life for urself. But it is indeed more worthwhile when you live for others. You will feel contented with the life too :)
ReplyDelete:) I'm not saying that you should live your life ONLY for yourself ma, I'm saying that...one should live life for oneself as well...and not be always living for others...once the kids are grown up, you should give them their freedom and independence to grow up...like santosh subramaniyam, valanthathukku apparam pillaiyoda kaiya pidichukitte irruka kudathu.
ReplyDeleteAnd besides, why do u live a life for others? Cos it gives YOU a satisfaction, right?
So, shouldn't that also be called selfish?
I'm not saying that your views are wrong or anything but you can look at it in both ways..:)
